What You Need to Know

Before You Accept a Booking

We know how important the evening entertainment and music is to our couples; that's why we allow them to source their own band and DJ if they wish.

We love inviting new acts to The Ashes Barns and we'll do everything we can to make you feel welcome.

Before accepting a booking to play at The Ashes Barns please make sure you're happy to comply with our requirements set out below:

PLI & PAT Test Certificate Needed

Please make sure we have a copy of your Public Liability Insurance and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) Certificate for your equipment, before the wedding day.

You’re welcome to email them to us directly or send them to the happy couple who’ll forward them on.

Please understand that we must have a copy of the Public Liability Insurance and a Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) Certificate. You will not be permitted to perform at the venue unless we have these documents in place.

Sound Limiter

A Sound Limiter is fitted at The Ashes Barns and set to 100 decibels.

The sound limiter is a condition of our license and it is not possible to override the settings or disable the sound limiter. We appreciate that a sound limiter is not ideal but we must comply with the conditions of our license at all events.

We request that you respect and comply with any request to reduce the volume made by any member of The Ashes Barns Staff.

The external doors from the dance floor to the courtyard must remain locked while evening music is being played.

We want the the happy couple and their guests to enjoy your amazing performance, please do not hesitate to contact us in advance if you would like any further information.

Safety & Your Setup

As you approach the wedding venue follow the driveway up into the North Courtyard. You’ll be able to unload your gear straight onto the dancefloor of The East Barn.

  • Please keep the FIRE EXIT clear at all times, no cables may cross the Fire Exit which must remain closed.
  • Staff must be able to access the Beer Cellar (left door on the back wall of  the dancefloor.)
  • We do not provide stage lighting and we don’t allow dry ice as it triggers our smoke particle detectors.
  • The top of your speakers must not be raised more than 1.5 metres from the ground.
  • Please ensure that Drum Kits are sat on a protective mat to prevent damage to our floors.
  • It is not possible to leave any equipment overnight with us.

Please help us to provide the perfect evening, if you spot spillages on the dance floor please alert a member of staff.

Any food and drink requested for the evening must be pre-arranged through the happy couple.

Sound Checking

The Ashes Event Manager will be onsite to greet you when you arrive at The Ashes Barns.

If we’ve not had the opportunity to discuss timings with you before the couple’s big day we’ll let you know when the best time for the sound check will be, when you arrive.

It’s ideal if you’ve completed the sound check before the wedding guests are seated for the wedding breakfast or after the speeches to minimise disruption.

Music Stops at Midnight

In accordance with our license please ensure all music stops at 12am (Midnight).

We suggest you wind things down slightly earlier to enable you to play the ‘one more’ which is often requested when you have a full dance floor!!

All the power sockets located in The East Barn are connected to an automatic timer which cuts the power at 12.05am to give you time to shut down any sensitive equipment. Our lovely Event Managers cannot override the automatic cut off.

Please work with us on this; the music must stop at Midnight.
