Meet our four beautiful Highland Cows: Ashley, Ewan, Billy, and Barney. Our gorgeous boys bring that extra touch of magic to your wedding day that you never knew you needed!
On a visit to The Ashes Barns, you might have spotted our furry friends grazing in the fields enjoying the acres of land they're free to roam in. They'll often pop down to The Courtyard to say hello and have a nosey at your wedding celebrations.
Highland Cows, with their distinctive shaggy coats and majestic horns, are inherently photogenic, proving a truly charming photo opportunity on your wedding day. Whether they're grazing in the background or posing alongside you, our highland cows add an element of charm and character to your wedding photographs.
Ashley
Meet Ashley, the largest, oldest, and wisest of the herd. Son of our beloved late Blondie, Ashley was actually born onsite in 2012 and has grown into his role as the leader of the herd.
You'll notice the substantial size difference in our magnificent old boy as he leads the way to the next helping of hay! He takes on his role of spokesperson with pride and you'll often hear his bellowing 'moo' rumbling across the venue. If there's something our boys need, Ashley will let us know about it!
Don't be fooled by Ashley's fierce exterior and his imposing giant horns, as he's a gentle giant who has come to be very protective of his other furry friends.
Ewan
Cheeky little chap, Ewan, was born in 2021 and joined the Highland Cow family in 2022 at just 1 years old.
Ewan has a little habit of getting up to mischief and has built up quite the reputation for being a little bit naughty sometimes. But we could never tell him off with that cute little face! Just look at those fluffy ears!
Ewan has a fierce appetite and nothing gets in between him and his food - not even Ashley's magnificent horns!
Although he's cheeky, we wouldn't have him any other way!
Billy
One of our latest arrivals, Billy, was born in April 2022 and joined us with best pal Barney, in June 2023.
If you've ever felt like somebody's watching you here at The Ashes, you're probably right! As the nosiest of the group, you'll often spot Billy peeping at you in the distance.
Billy is the most inquisitive and confident of the herd, and he'll often show his cute little face down by the courtyard so he can get a closer look at your wedding celebrations.
Barney
Last but by no means least, beautiful Barney was also born in April 2022, and along with Billy, is one of the two youngest cows here.
Although much smaller and still growing out his baby horns, he bears much resemblance to Ashley, and is often described as his mini me!
Barney is very much the shy one of the group and is still coming out of his shell. But we're sure he'll assert himself once those horns reach their full potential!
With best friend, Billy, by his side, this adorable twosome are sure to steal your hearts!
