The Ashes Wedding Venue in Staffordshire can host weddings with up to one hundred and fifty guests in total, so it is not a small wedding venue as such but after being the Event Manager
at a really beautiful small and intimate wedding there last summer, I felt inspired to share with you just how perfectly suited it is to smaller weddings.
Young and In Love
The couple in question were delicious and I have to confess to having a soft spot for them, they really were lovely. They had looked at a number of small wedding venues in the North West before visiting The Ashes.
They were young and in love; they wanted a small wedding venue where their 25 guests wouldn’t seem lost in the space but they still wanted to get married somewhere beautiful, memorable and countrified.
The Arc Layout
What’s great about The Ashes is that we only ever put out the right number of chairs to suit the wedding. There is nothing worse than loads of empty chairs at the ceremony. The wedding ceremony takes place in The West Barn at The Ashes; for small weddings we’ll always recommend the ‘Arc’ layout. Rather than having the registrar’s table at the front of the barn with traditional ‘pew’ like
rows of chairs creating a long aisle; we position the registrar’s table against the pretty stonework of the longest wall and arc the chairs around it. This arc layout looks fantastic and makes full use of the space available so that the room looks full with modest guest numbers.
The Caterpillar Layout
Following the drinks reception guests are invited into The East Barn for the wedding breakfast. This is a stunning barn; the height of the barn with all its exposed beams is breath-taking and because the ‘wow’ factor is upwards, you can have a small number of
guests for the wedding breakfast without losing the impact of the room and without it looking empty. We simply set the dining tables out differently; for small weddings we’ll suggest the ‘caterpillar layout’ which works really well.
