Weather at The Ashes

Wedding Weather Predictions!

Summer begins on June 21st at The Ashes Barn Wedding Venue, that’s official!!!
On taking delivery of all the decorations and boxes brimming with goodies ahead of our couples Wedding day, the conversation often turns to wedding weather predictions. Our Bride has often been glued to the TV waiting for weather updates or Googling ST9 for a minute by minute account. I even met a Groom once who set up his own weather station to ‘monitor the situation!’
The Ashes Wedding Venue is situated in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands, nestled behind the spine of the Pennines, arguably Britain’s most impressive mountain range. Extending 270 miles from the Derbyshire peaks to border with Scotland, this rugged and hauntingly beautiful landscape has inspired walkers, climbers and romantics alike. Yes, the stunning peaks can sometimes harbour rain clouds, much needed to keep the beautiful grounds of The Ashes Barn wedding Venue looking green and vibrant but quite often, they shelter us from more extreme weather conditions.
As last year’s Summer weather was decidedly unseasonal and let’s be honest downright disappointing even for a Royal celebration on the Thames, I thought I’d share a few of our Bride’s reactions to their watery weather forecasts.
The day before her Wedding one very stressed Bride wailed “but what do we do if it rains?!” Without hesitation I replied “we do what we do when it doesn’t rain honey, ensure that all your plans run exactly the same, we just hold up The Ashes umbrellas as well!”
Another lovely Bride said “but I’ve got all this bunting to be hung outside!” Again, I replied “so if that’s where you would like it to go, we shall do it but we can hang it indoors if you’d prefer!”
“What about my photographs?” asked another Bride. “You will have the most beautiful photographs inside the The Ashes Barns to start with and then I’ll keep a look out for a chink in the clouds so you can try out your music festival style wellies!”
I guess what I’m saying is by all means watch those wedding weather predictions from the nice lady at the end of the news wafting an extended arm casually over “the Central region”, but don’t worry about it and stay positive! More often than not she will be describing “sunny outbreaks interspersed with some scattered showers”. What she’s really doing is covering herself for all eventualities and thinking ” Oooo, it’s that tricky bit in the middle!”
Personally I carry an umbrella, ella, ella, (sorry!) at all times.
Well, I hate getting sun burn!

I don’t care what the weather man says
When the weatherman says it’s raining
You’ll never hear me complaining
I’m certain the sun will shine I don’t care how the weather vane points
When the weather vane points to gloomy
It’s gotta be sunny to me, when your eyes look into mine………
