Why our couples booked . . . .

It’s always interesting to hear Why Our Couples decide to hold their wedding with us here at The Ashes. When our couples were asked the question when voting for us in the National Wedding Industry

Awards ‘Why did you book Thew Ashes?’ the following (un-edited) comments helped us win the National Award for Best Wedding Venue 2014.

Because it is stunning!!

Spectacular location, exquisite barns. Exclusive use. Professional staff.

It was my number 1 choice, fell in love with it straight away.

The venue was idyllic, we could supply our own drinks and it provided the perfect facilities for us at an affordable price. In addition to this, Ben the owner was extremely helpful and really sold the venue to us with his attitude.

Beautiful location and for the fact that we could have the entire wedding in one location (ceremony and reception)

Quality venue with the right feeling, able to provide everything we wanted and made all our guests feel involved in the event.

Just loved it from the first moment.

I fell in love with this Venus on the website. In real life it’s even more stunning. My then fiancé agreed as did my parents. The management team consider every detail and seemed to have similar taste to us. We didn’t view anywhere else and booked it straight away.

As soon as we saw the venue and had a look around my husband I knew straight away it was the perfect venue!

Because we felt instantly comfortable and gobsmacked at the same time.

We went for a viewing and it was so beautiful we knew we couldn’t find anything more perfect and booked it right there and then!

We wanted a converted barn venue in a scenic location close to Sheffield

They were simply the best venue in the Staffordshire and Derbyshire Area. I wanted a cosy Countryside wedding and this venue was as if it was picked out of my head it was that perfect.

Simply the most perfect Wedding Venue in our local area. We liked that the fact the venue was ours for the day.

We fell in love with it the second we walked in! We knew that the beauty and atmosphere of the place would make our day magical, and it did just that. The staff were friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough to help us. Nothing was too much trouble and communicating with them was always a pleasure. The Ashes is genuinely a wonderful venue!

We looked around it and couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else!

We wanted an exclusive venue where we could get married and celebrate later. From the minute we visited The Ashes, we fell in love. It was breath taking and really impressed all of our guests. A stunning venue owned by people who truely do value your custom and want to make your wedding special.

Its so gorgeous we fell in love the first time we went and it was the only venue we looked at! Its got everything you could want and more and is stunning!

Beautiful grounds and a lot of hard work and thought had gone into making the site very personal for every wedding. Did break the bank a little bit, but for what you were getting, it was worth it.

We wanted a rustic and private venue we could spend the whole day at. They offered a complete package at reasonable prices with lots of added extras without hidden costs unlike the majority of other venues we know of.

After seeing it I completely fell in love with the place and also the staff and their enthusiasm

Because it was my dream venue and it represented us as a couple perfectly. It was professional and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Fell in love with it 🙂

good location for all our friends and families travelling from various parts of the uk. stunning location and views. wonderful service overall…..

It was exactly what we were looking for, high standards, high quality and with sole use for us for the day.

The venue is stunning. I call it the butterfly venue. The first time we took a look at the Ashes, it felt like I had butterfly in my stomach. We fell in love with it.

The Setting, Quality of decor fixture & fittings but most importantly the dedicated friendly owners Ben & Sarah and their staff

Stunning location, beautiful barns with natural features, friendly events staff, and fantastic caterers. The Ashes was exactly what we were looking for!

Everything about it from the drive up to the house/barns to the flexibility of use for the two barns. They thought of everything and made planning a wedding there very enjoyable. I saw so many venues that didn’t have that special something and The Ashes certainly has that. The owners and staff were all fabulous and really helpful.

The quality of the venue , the wedding planner, the location of the venue

Because it’s a dream venue in a fantastic location with amazing views

A great location and beautiful building.

It’s the perfect wedding venue!

We found it on the the internet and after visiting it we knew it was our perfect venue.

First impressions are everything.

the feeling you get when you get there for a visit just wins you over on every level

A number of reasons but primarily location and style of venue, excellent choice of food and freedom to have the day exactly as we wanted.

We came to visit and were blown away by how lovely the venue was and how helpful the staff were. There was a real emphasis on “us” which was refreshing. In some other venues we visited it felt very much like a business deal or the owners spoke to our parents (as the main funders). We initially met Ben who was great and told us about the tasting day. A few month later we attended with our parents. It was lovely to see a full venue with different ideas for decoration and of course the food choices! We couldn’t be happier that we chose The Ashes. Our day was absolutely perfect and I would recommend the venue to anyone.

The look and feel of the venue and the staff! You didn’t feel like a wedding cow being hearded on a conveyor belt

We wanted a relaxed atmosphere where we felt in control and not dictated to by the venue. The venue its self was beautiful and the perfect style for what we wanted. The exclusive use, fact we could have anything we wanted, no corkage and no added extras was everything we could ask for.

The events manager we were shown round by (jayne) really sold the venues assets very well and was warm and welcoming.

We both really wanted a relaxed environment for our wedding and The Ashes definitely delivered on that. The choices that that they offer are brilliant; we could bring our own drinks without having to pay corkage fees and the catering company that they provide (Jenkinsons) created the most amazing food.

Fantastic reputation. Beautiful buildings and grounds. Professional and welcoming staff.

The Ashes is a stunning venue, once seen it was hard to consider anywhere else. We loved the rural setting, the restored listed barns & buildings. We wanted somewhere that was flexible to do what we wanted, and for it to be relaxed or as formal as we wanted. Although, we initially thought it was out of our budget, once we weighed up other venues corkage charges & drinks prices we realised we would be saving in the long run. At the first viewing with Ben, we were pleased that we would not be pressed into using specific suppliers, apart from the caterer & that they were happy to try and accomodate all our ideas. I initially had to rearrange the date, and as it was a week day they did not charge me any fee for doing this, saving me a lot of stress (and tears!). The catering choices, although with one company, was basically they would be happy to cater for anything we wanted.

I wanted to get married near to my family home and I also wanted a country theme so the Ashes was the perfect location.

It was by far the best venue out of the many we had viewed and came highly recommended by friends

Venue set up and the staff made a good impression on our visits

We had been to a wedding in a barn and decided we wanted something similar. I googled barn weddings in Staffordshire and The Ashes came up. We went to visit and it was just wonderful. We booked it straight away!

We fell in love with the ashes venue the moment we drove up the drive, the venue was stunning just what we were looking for a country barn. Where we could have a casual and classic wedding!!

We only visited on venue, The Ashes. Having visited Ben and Sarah and the beautiful Venue, no where else would have ever come close.

The costs of the venue and what you got for that money was very easy to understand and there was no hidden extras

The place is just beautiful.

Because of its rustic setting no chintzy curtains and carpets and stacks of natural lighting. No on site accommodation which usually means the day can be broken up by guests going off to their rooms. Finally we loved the flexibility of designing our own menu and supplying our own drinks with no corkage! It meant we cod splurge on things that mattered!

This was the first and only venue we looked at. As soon as we drove up the driveway I new we would book it for our wedding.the barns and courtyard were just perfect for what we imagined our wedding to be.

They offered us so much choice with everything and it was exactly what we were looking for in our wedding venue.

We fell in love with the grounds and barns the moment we saw them, but what made us book The Ashes were the helpfulness and professionalism of all the staff who work there. We knew our day was safe in their hands!

Venue, setting and the highland cattle! All inclusive price and personal touch,

Perfect romantic location, away from the daily life of the town. The staff put us at ease and were extremely professional. Everything you could want under one roof.

Having very nearly booked a different venue before visiting the Ashes we were annoyed by having added extras hidden in the small print so decided to view the Ashes. Their pricing was transparent and more reasonable than other quotes we had received, in addition they did not charge for corkage which made a big difference to our budget. Overall though it was the feel of the venue which we both loved straightaway as other venues had felt a little stuffy and were styled in such a way that we felt it would have made our day more formal than we wanted. Although Ben and Sarah are obviously running a business we never felt as though we were just another couple they were trying to get to sign on the dotted line – no pushiness and a personal approach from the outset

Everything was perfect for our requirements, location, stunning venue, great layout, incredible food, lovely staff.

Wanted a barn venue and as soon as I saw it on the internet I knew it was where I wanted to get married, as soon as I showed my husband he fully agreed, we only viewed one other place as a comparison but it came nowhere close!

We wanted a wedding venue that was impressive but still had a relaxed atmosphere. The ashes has all this, the barns and courtyard look beautiful in the day and the night, the surrounding area provided a dramatic backdrop. What sold the venue to my husband was the transparency of their prices and the no corkage fees. So pleased we chose the ashes for our perfect day.

Always wanted a barn venue and even thought this was 90 mintues away….everyone thought it was worth it!

We booked the ashes as neither myself or husband are religious but it is close to my mums house so guests didn t have far to travel and everything is taken care of in one place.

Due it being close to perfection

We fell in love with the beautiful barns, the setting & most importantly the atmosphere that the venue gave, we just knew it would be an amazing day

Beautiful venue, great location and amazing staff

Confidence in the team and their attention to detail, fantastic external caterers, quality reccomendations for other suppliers such as the photographer and the venue itself which is beautiful.

Beautiful venue with relaxed feel, very friendly staff flexible and open to our ideas, could not imagine getting married anywhere else, encompassed everything we were looking for in a venue, character, charm, fabulous space, countryside, excellent service, magical atmosphere. Excellent value for money.

Lovely venue and owners and staff.

The Ashes is a beautiful setting, very close to where our families live in the Stoke-on-Trent/Newcastle region – perfect for two people who grew up in North Staffs. A significant feature was the exclusivity of the venue, that once you’ve booked it, it’s yours for the day and there are no other conferences or weddings going on at the same time.

The gorgeous venue and how helpful and friendly everyone working there is

Customer service and flexibility was amazing. Flexibility key in choosing this venue.

The friendliness of the staff, the beautiful surroundings, everything about it made it the only choice for us.

I was googling for venues in the Peak District. The Ashes was actually outside of our preferred area, but as soon as we visited it, we knew it was where we wanted to marry. Not only is the location beautiful, and the buildings stunning, but the staff when we visited were so helpful. We could tell immediately that it was the venue for us, and we had the perfect day.

Stunning venue with amazing scenery, really felt like the countryside was ours, attention to detail and beautifully restored barns with understated character, and all exclusive which was very important and made it feel private and special

Natural features and surrounding beauty.

Appearance, layout and location (not too far away from our home – useful in the planning process).

How exclusive it felt, the flexibility and the catering suggested. The grounds and two barns were amazing and set the scene for the perfect day.

Good value

We fell love with it!! It was THE one.

Once you’ve looked around you can’t do anything but!!!

The venue is beautiful and weddings are what they do, not some hotel trying to make some cash on the side. Also the owners and staff are lovely from the moment you meet them, why would you not pick this venue?
