June Wedding at The Ashes Barns

June Wedding

With Crimson Blooms & Vintage Vibes

Sophie & Jason's stunning June Wedding at The Ashes Barns has us in raptures. We wanted to know more about what inspired the crimson red florals and slightly autumnal feel to this June wedding with a difference, here's what Sophie had to say...

Head Over Heels

We met 12 years ago at the young age of 16. I knew Jason was the one straight away and fell head over heels. Jason was always adamant he didn’t want to get married so I was completely shocked and blown away when after 10 years of being a couple, whilst in New York City on a rowing boat in the middle of Central Park, he asked me to marry him! It was the most romantic thing in the world and of course I said yes! Jason had asked my dad a few weeks beforehand for my hand in marriage and I think he was as shocked as I was!

Rustic, Romantic & Quirky

We fell in love with The Ashes Barns the second we drove up the driveway. We wanted a rustic venue with lots of character and nature, that’s exactly what you get there. The staff were so welcoming too it made it an easy decision for us.

I’m a big lover of Pinterest so I was researching and saving pictures of colour schemes, dresses, venues as soon as we landed from NYC! We’re both rockers at heart so I always wanted quite a quirky wedding with autumnal colours along with ‘wow’ flowers and candles to make it feel romantic.

Fabulous Florals

My florist did an amazing job at giving the venue the ‘WOW’ factor and the colours just popped in the barns!

Lily, my florist made my vision come to life. My colour scheme was autumnal so with my wedding being in June finding some flowers to suit my look took some research but she managed it. Everyone commented on how beautiful they looked, especially my bridal bouquet which was stunning and full of the most amazing deep colours and blooms.

Vintage Vibes

I initially chose to visit Wedding Belles as they offered a lovely deal for a private dress fitting with afternoon tea and fizz. However, once I was there I fell in love with the dresses and Kate, my dress consultant, knew exactly which dress would suit me. I wanted a vintage style dress and I added a lace body to my strapless dress along with a vintage hair grip to finish the look.

Jason looked amazing in his suit from Duncan James Menswear.

It's Your Day, Do It Your Way!

We loved every single minute of our Wedding Day and wouldn’t change a thing! It was so relaxed and the venue was exactly as we had envisioned. If I had any words of wisdom for future couples it would be to do what makes YOU happy. It’s your wedding day and you only do it once so make sure you have no regrets!

Delegate to your bridal team and ushers, don’t take all the stress on your own, that’s what they are they for and will probably love to be asked to help.

The Time of Your Life

Enjoy your time having photos with your new husband/wife as it’s probably the only time you’ll get on your own!

Luke Small from David Boynton Photography was our photographer, we loved his natural style. Our photos made us laugh, cry and smile from ear to ear!

At some point in the day take a step back together as a new married couple and look at everyone there enjoying themselves. Let guests come to you to say hello! Especially in the evening you won’t have time to go and speak to everyone and you should be having the time of your life on the Dance floor!
