Epic Easter Barn Wedding at The Ashes Barns
The Best Team!
Ash proposed on our family holiday in Turkey. My mum came with us and was in charge of the ring! We booked a special restaurant one night and while eating a delicious meal he got down on one knee. Our 2 sons were there. I was so surprised, I had no idea!
We have had some incredible holidays and good times in our 11 years together. Sri Lanka and a motor home travelling around Cornwall are a couple of very high highlights for us.
We have three beautiful children, two businesses together and we still like each other!! We are on the same page and have the same life goals that we build together. We are the best team!
Our Chosen Venue
The Ashes Barns was one of many wedding venues that we viewed, but this venue made complete sense to both of us. It makes a grand first impression as you drive up the long drive surrounded by countryside.
The barns are absolutely beautiful even without any wedding decor and the staff knew exactly how to make us feel special and understood our frustrations with other venues.
We knew we would book it within the first few moments!
An Easter Barn Wedding
We had a Spring wedding in April near to Easter. So, we wanted to make it feel very Spring-like with a nod to Easter with a relaxed vibe and beautiful pastel colours. We wanted it to be fun and very musical.
We organised a little egg hunt for the children and gave Lindt bunnies as favours to add to the Easter Barn Wedding vibe.
And of course we wanted the wow factor for our guests! Flowers (tulips and lots of them) and live music were on top of the priority list for suppliers.
Personal Touches
We (I!) wanted tulips galore. It’s my favourite flower and in season for our wedding date.
Our family is very musical so we wanted to bring that into the day. Our eldest son plays saxophone and my dad is a musician. They played 2 beautiful songs live on the Juliet balcony while we signed the register. My dad also sung live our first dance which made it very special.
Our florist was Ruby Doodles and she produced exactly our vision with amazing tulips and my bouquet was the most beautiful bouquet I’ve ever seen. Everyone commented on it! Flowers were a big part of our decor and they made the whole place sing. Perfect.
Dressed To Impress
We didn’t want the traditional groomsmen suit with tails, cravat swirly waistcoat etc. Instead they wore brown tweed with a pink tie to match the bridesmaids.
The bridesmaids were a gorgeous simple pastel pink dress with a detailed back to match the spring feel.
The brides dress was big Disney princess that didn’t follow the rules of relaxed spring feel!!! I fell in love with it and knew it was the one I had to have.
The dress was a big secret from everyone apart from my mum and sister. We chose the groomsmen suits together.
Epic Entertainment
Our entertainment was live music throughout the whole day. We had a family friend and his colleague play his acoustic set in the courtyard at our drinks reception, this went down very well and set the celebrations off perfectly. We were lucky with the weather and it was so beautiful to spend time in the courtyard for this part.
At night time we used Apollo Soul….WOW absolutely made the night. The best party ever, they are so professional and know exactly how to get everyone on that dance floor.
Stunning Photography
Surprisingly we adored the ceremony, it was so very emotional and I think there were tears down every cheek! I read my own written poem/promise and the saxophone and piano whilst we signed the register were very memorable favourite moments for us and our guests.
From getting ready in the fantastic dressing room to Dancing the night away to Apollo Soul. It was just perfect.
Wedding Top Tips
Relax! I was very calm as I was determined to enjoy every second.
Cry! Ash cried the whole day but it made it so emotionally special.
Set priorities for your day and use your budget accordingly.

Super Suppliers
We loved having Joe with us on our day. He was so quick and organised getting our group shots done so we had more time to enjoy time with our guests. He seemed to have his camera everywhere but in a very polite way.
We felt very comfortable with him. We cannot wait to get all of our pics and video back.
