Rebecca Adlington & Harry Needs Marry at The Ashes

There is always a flutter of nervous anticipation before any wedding at The Ashes. The Restoration Team work hard throughout the early hours of the morning making sure that every aspect of the venue is perfect for our happy couples, before the Event Manager arrives on site to coordinate the set-up. We know that you’ve chosen all your bridal decorations and personal touches with great care so that’s exactly how we approach your wedding set-up.

On the morning of Sunday 31st August 2014, we’ll admit to experiencing a slightly bigger flutter of nervous anticipation than normal as we awaited the arrival of the very charming Harry Needs and his future bride Olympic Gold Medallist Rebecca Adlington, who chose to exchange their vows and celebrate their marriage at The Ashes.
We also welcomed Hello! Magazine who have just published details of the simply incredible, relaxed and fun-filled wedding day shared with family and friends.
So many of our couples are inspired by the character and warmth of the beautiful Grade II* Listed barns at The Ashes; just a few personal touches and thoughtful decorations placed throughout create a stunning setting for your wedding.
Currently studying for a degree in Graphic Design, Harry was no exception and put his creative talents to good use;

“I designed all the art for the table names and seating plan, the invitations, orders of service and menus, so I really got to put my stamp on the day and utilise our favourite bright colours: blue, coral and purple.”

Opting to write their own vows served to heighten the emotion of their beautiful ceremony in the West Barn; we needed tissues on the day and again when re-living the moment watching this wonderful video.

“The ceremony was so personal, which was exactly what we wanted,’

‘I love the fact Harry was in bits before I even reached him. I was a bit nervous in the car on the way here with my dad, but as soon as I walked in, my nerves melted and I relaxed.”

The happy couple were blessed with a fine day and made use of the grounds for some fabulous photographs featured in Hello! before taking their seats in The East Barn for the wedding breakfast, which was prepared and served by our wonderful exclusive caterers.
Their delicious celebration menu featured rack of lamb followed by Eton Mess.
We were delighted that Rebecca and Harry chose to enlist the services of our recommended DJs Sound Solutions, following some heartfelt speeches the Bride and Groom impressed their guests with a choreographed First Dance before encouraging guests to join them on the dancefloor.
The newlyweds led by example and soon all the guests were enjoying the evening’s festivities with abandon.
